Snowman and Snowdog

Little shoppers at White Lion Walk rejoice after meeting The Snowman™ and The Snowdog!

On Saturday 29th November over 350 children met with the magical Christmas characters, The Snowman and The Snow dog at White Lion Walk Shopping Centre in Guildford.

On one of the busiest shopping weekends of the year, the loveable duo, from the sequel to the traditional Snowman film by Raymond Briggs, were on hand to meet with little shoppers and their families to get everyone in the festive spirit.

Halloween 2014 at WLW

Creepy Crawlie Roadshow is a huge success at White Lion Walk

On Friday 31st October, White Lion Walk Shopping Centre in Guildford was certainly the place to celebrate Halloween in a truly frightful style as shoppers were given the chance to meet some real creepy crawlies.

Throughout the day hundreds of shoppers faced their fears and got up close to a variety of spine-tingling creepy crawlies, including cockroaches, snakes, scorpions, snails, lizards, millipedes, rats, mice and even a red-backed tarantula. Children were also able to learn about these fascinating creatures’ habitats, diets and lifestyle, gaining a better understanding of the natural world.

WW1 Donations

Guildford Shoppers honour the fallen -  Over £800 is collected for the British Legion at town’s commemorative WW1 exhibition

White Lion Walk in Guildford is delighted to announce that over £800 was collected for the nation’s Poppy Appeal during the shopping centre’s commemorative WW1 exhibition.  The exhibition, which was open to shoppers throughout August to mark the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War, featured a stunning array of information, memorabilia, artefacts and family recollections from the war.  The display also offered visitors the opportunity to personalise a poppy cross in return for a small donation - not only were these displayed in a breath-taking memory wall within the centre but the collection raised a fantastic £826 for the nation’s Poppy Appeal.

Coffee Morning

Macmillan Coffee Morning proves huge success

On Friday 26th September, White Lion Walk Shopping Centre hosted one of Guildford’s biggest Macmillan Coffee Mornings at Artington Park and Ride. From 7am White Lion Walk representatives served hot Starbucks coffee and delicious Millie’s Cookies to commuters raising over £110 in donations for MacMillan Cancer Support.

The money raised will go towards paying for Macmillan nurses, Macmillan benefit workers and Macmillan social workers who provide medical, emotional and financial support for those dealing with cancer. Last year the coffee morning raised a record £20 million nationally.

WW1 Poetry Competition

Guildford residents win White Lion Walk’s nostalgic poetry competition

White Lion Walk Shopping Centre is delighted to announce that the winners of their recent WW1 inspired poetry competition are Guildford residents, Kate Turner and Gillian Harris.
Kate (14) was selected as the winner of the under 18’s category thanks to her beautiful poem entitled ‘Poppies’, whilst Gillian, the winner of the adult category, was selected due to the moving words in her entry entitled, ‘From Somewhere in France.’
The competition, which invited local residents of all ages to submit their own WW1 inspired poems or creative writing pieces, was held in celebration of White Lion Walk’s commemorative WW1 exhibition which is open throughout August.

Honey Bee day

White Lion Walk creates a Buzz!

In recognition of National Honey Bee Day, Guildford’s White Lion Walk Shopping Centre hosted a very special Honey Bee event on Saturday 16th August and invited shoppers of all ages to come along and celebrate the bee-autiful insects.

Throughout the day, a variety of fun activities including colouring stations and free face-painting provided entertainment for the younger members of the family, whilst an informative environmental exhibition featuring a selection of tools used within the bee keeping industry, offered an interesting insight into the plight of the honey bee.

WW1 exhibition

White Lion Walk opens commemorative WW1 exhibition

On Monday 4th August, White Lion Walk Shopping Centre in Guildford officially opened their commemorative exhibition to mark the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War.

The exhibition features a stunning array of information, memorabilia, artefacts and family recollections from the war and a local touch is really evident as the majority of items on display have been generously loaned to the centre by Surrey residents to commemorate the lives of those who fought for us all those years ago.

Kids ‘grow’ their love for Father’s Day

On Saturday 14th June, children visiting White Lion Walk Shopping Centre in Guildford took part in a special arts and crafts workshop with an environmental twist making their very own cress head pots to grow with their dads.  Held as part of the centre’s Father’s Day celebrations, the workshop was a great success with a number of families taking part.

White Lion Walk goes footie mad!

On Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th June White Lion Walk was overcome with ‘Brazil fever’ as they launched their very own football sweepstake which offered shoppers the opportunity to win a host of prizes including a £250 shopping spree.Throughout the weekend the centre gave shoppers, who had spent £10 or more in any of the stores within White Lion Walk, the opportunity to pick up a special football sweepstake card featuring the name of one of the teams participating in Brazil.

Easter 2014

Egg-cellent response to White Lion Walk’s Easter event On Saturday 19th April, White Lion Walk Shopping Centre in Guildford, hosted an incredible free Easter Eggs-travaganza event offering a variety of fun activities for all the family.Throughout the day the event offered younger shoppers the opportunity to take part in a special arts and crafts workshop making a variety of Easter themed gifts as well as a treasure hunt with scrumptious rewards for all the family. There was even a free face painter on hand to transform youngsters into a variety of characters from butterflies and bunnies to pirates and lions.

Mothers Day Presentation

On Saturday 22nd March children visiting White Lion Walk Shopping Centre in Guildford got crafty to show their mothers just how much they care!  Furthermore, shoppers were given the opportunity to nominate their mums in the centre’s Marvellous Mum competition for the chance to win her a hamper full of prizes for Mother’s Day. Out of nearly 50 entries, Mary Kelly was selected as the winner after being nominated by her son Ciaran because he wanted to give something back as his mum had done so much for him.

On Saturday 22nd March children visiting White Lion Walk Shopping Centre in Guildford got crafty to show their mothers just how much they care!  Throughout the day, using specially printed Mother’s Day cards, youngsters added glitter, feathers and foam to make a truly individual card to present to their mums on Mothering Sunday.

Valentines winner

White Lion Walk presents shopper with stunning Swarovski necklace just in time for Valentine’s Day
On Wednesday 12th February local Guildford resident, Nico Zanzyl, was presented with a stunning Swarovski necklace for his loved one just in time for Valentine’s Day after winning White Lion Walk Shopping Centre’s Melting Heart Ice Sculpture Competition. The competition, which took place last weekend, invited shoppers to guess how long the centre’s specially made heart ice sculpture would take to melt. Over 85 people entered the competition with guesses ranging from 4 hours to 112 days...

Valentine 2014

Hearts Melt in White Lion Walk On Saturday 8th February, in celebration of the Valentine’s Day shopping weekend, White Lion Walk Shopping Centre in Guildford unveiled an incredible heart ice sculpture on the mall and gave shoppers the chance to win a stunning Swarovski necklace if they could guess how long the ice would take to melt!

Over 85 people entered the competition with guesses ranging from 4hours to 112 days however, with the weather still icy cold outside; the stunning sculpture is still yet to completely melt so at the time of writing a winner has not yet been determined.

White Lion Walk gives away £1000 to shoppers just to say thank you

On Friday 31st January a number of shoppers at White Lion Walk Shopping Centre in Guildford were given a big surprise as representatives from the Centre’s Management team shocked un-suspecting customers by paying for their shopping!  Throughout the day the Centre Manager of White Lion Walk, Steve Cotney, and members of his team were sneaking up on the most oblivious of shoppers and rewarding them for their loyalty to White Lion Walk by buying their shopping for them.
