Charity volunteer announced as Surrey's Christmas Star

A local woman from Ripley in Surrey has been announced as Surrey's Christmas Star in recognition of the hard work she has completed for her local women's refuge. White Lion Walk in Guildford invited local people to come forward with stories about the 'angels' in the area that deserved to be named as Surrey's Christmas Star. Madeleine Heslop aged 27, was chosen for her dedication to helping others. Throughout the last five years Madeleine has provided a gift for a number of women and children who are supported by her local refuge. This year Madeleine has provided over 50 presents and aims to do the same for 2018. Each gift is personalised, wrapped and includes items such as books, drawing materials, cosmetics and toys. 

Christmas in Guildford gets started with a bang!

White Lion Walk sponsors annual fireworks display at town's Christmas light switch on event.

Christmas in Guildford was officially launched on Thursday 16th November when the town's Christmas lights were switched on by a host of characters and celebrities. The spectacular event went out with a bang again this year thanks to White Lion Walk Shopping Centre's annual firework display - the grand finale of the celebrations.

s official sponsors of the town's annual Christmas event, White Lion Walk has provided the finale fireworks display for over 10 years. Each year the Guildford shopping centre teams up with the Surrey Advertiser to find one lucky child to push the start button on the spectacle and 8 year old Elizabeth Sone-Upton from Guildford was picked as 2017's winner. 

Green Apple Award Winner

White Lion Walk Shopping Centre have won another Green Apple Environmental Award in the international campaign to find the greenest companies, councils, and communities. The Green Apple Awards began in 1994 and have become established as the country's major recognition for environmental endeavour among companies, councils, communities, and countries. The awards are organised by The Green Organisation - an international, independent, non-political, non-profit environment group dedicated to recognising, reward, and promotion environmental best practices around the world. The Green Apple Awards are supported by The Environment Agency, The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, the Chartered Institution for Waste Management and other independent bodies.

Fang-tastic time had at White Lion Walk

Little Guildford shoppers and their families had a special Halloween treat on Saturday 28th October as White Lion Walk hosted it's 'spooktacular' treasure hunt event. Children were encouraged to take part in a free 'Safe Trick or Treating' treasure hunt where they were encouraged to hunt around the centre searching for special spooky posters in a safe and secure environment. Once all the posters had been spotted they were rewarded with a special Halloween treat. A free face painter was also on hand throughout the day to transform 'little devils' into whatever Halloween characters they desired from witches and black cats to zombies and spiders. The centre also hosted an exclusive competition on its Facebook page in the lead up to the free event and is delighted to announce Teena Goodwin was chosen as the winner and received a whole host of spooky goodies from retailers within the centre.

Vapestore makes move due to continued growth

Due to continued growth, Vapestore a retailer within White Lion Walk Shopping Centre, has made the move to a larger unit. Last week the leading supplier of e-cigarettes in Sussex and Surrey, Vapestore (previously named Vapouritz), moved to a 1,169 square foot unit allowing the franchised business to expand their product offering and create new jobs within the community. Tristan Eriksson, Vapestore Management, commented: "We are thrilled to eb opening our recently rebranded store. the larger unit means we can expand our offering here in Guildford and I look forward to welcoming the new and old customers to our new home." 

halo White Lion Walk in conjunction with Guildford Fringe Festival raises £350 for local charity

White Lion Walk shopping centre is delighted to announce that, in conjunction with Guildford Fringe Festival, it has raised £350 for local learning disabilities charity The Halow Project. The funds were raised through sales of artwork featured in Guildford Fringe's art exhibition situated within White Lion Walk. The joint venture saw the centre and Guildford Fringe team up to host an official Box Office plus art exhibition celebrating the talent of local artists. After selling a variety of pieces, £350 was presented to Diane Savage, Community and Events Fundraiser at The Halow Project on Wednesday 27th September by Steve Cotney, Centre Manager at White Lion Walk alongside Charlotte Bateup, General Manager for the Guildford Fringe Festival.

macmillan coffee morning 2017 White Lion Walk celebrates 11th annual Macmillan Coffee Morning

n Friday 29th September White Lion Walk celebrated it's 11th annual Macmillan Coffee Morning and is thrilled to announce it has raised just under £100. Guildford commuters were served scrumptious cookies and coffee courtesy of Starbucks and Millies Cookies located within White Lion Walk in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support's World's Biggest Coffee Morning event. The money raised will go towards paying for Macmillan Nurses, benefit workers and social workers who provide medical, emotional and financial support for those dealing with cancer. Last year the coffee morning raised a record £29.5 million nationally, and an astonishing £245 million since it's launch in 1990, and 2017's event was expected to raise the most funds to date.

Monopoly hunt Local family announced as winners of White Lion Walk's Monopoly treasure Hunt

White Lion Walk in Guildford is delighted to announce Bethanie and Mia Wigmore as the winners of its Monopoly Treasure Hunt which took place throughout the school summer holidays. Running every day throughout August children were encouraged to take part in the treasure hunt by hunting for Monopoly themes posters hidden in store windows. Once they had found all six posters they could collect a treat and post their completed entry forms into the centre's special post box. The winners, age 8 and 10 from Guildford, were picked at random. White LIon Walk's Centre Management team presented Bethanie and Mia with their prize - a variety of tickets from leisure destinations including the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre. GLIve and Guildford Spectrum.

Chase - Paw Patrol Children meet their favourite PAW Patrol character at White Lion Walk

On Saturday 8th July shoppers visiting White Lion Walk in Guildford were treated to a special visit from Chase – the popular German Shepherd police-pup - from the children’s television show PAW Patrol.

The heroic pup was ‘on the case’ as he appeared during a variety of meet and greet performances throughout the day and youngsters and their families could pose for photos with the celebrity character.

Photography winner White Lion Walk photography competition winner announced!

White Lion Walk Shopping Centre in Guildford is delighted to announce the winner of its photography competition, in conjunction with The Surrey Advertiser and Guildford in Bloom, as Ezra Rollinson (23) from Guildford.

Held in celebration of White Lion Walk's sponsorship of Guildford in Bloom, the competition invited budding photographers to capture the essence of Surrey 'in bloom'. Just under 100 amazing entries were received. All the photographs submitted were displayed within the shopping centre throughout June and six finalists were then picked by White Lion Walk's Centre Management Team before shoppers voted for their favourite.

CSR 2017 winner White Lion Walk wins Gold & Bronze International CSR Award

White Lion Walk Shopping Centre has won another 2 International CSR Excellence Awards in the national campaign to find Britain's most caring companies.

They competed against more than 200 other nominations in the International CSR Excellence Awards 2017, and were presented with their trophies and certificates at The hOuses of Parliament on June 9th at a prestigious event. They received a Bronze award in Waste Management and a Gold award in Energy Management.

As a result of this International CSR Excellence Award success, they have been invited to have their winning paper published in The Global Guide to CSR Excellence (the leading international work of reference on corporate social responsibility best practice) so that others around the world can follow their lead and learn from their achievement.

White Lion Walk has won a Regional Silver Award in the Green Apples for Built Environment and Architectural Heritage, in an international campaign to find the greenest companies, councils and communities. 

White Lion Walk competed against more than 500 other nominations in the Green Apples for Built Environment and Architectural Heritage, and was presented with a trophy and certificate at a glittering presentation ceremony in the Houses of Parliament, London on June 9. As a result of this Green Apple Award success, White Lion Walk have been invited to have their winning paper published in the Green Book, the leading international work of reference on environmental best practice, so that others around the world can follow and learn from the achievement.

White Lion Walk Shopping Centre shortlisted for prestigious awards

White Lion Walk Shopping Centre in Guildford is delighted to announce that it has been shortlisted for not one but two national awards. Last year White Lion Walk transformed a standard sponsorship deal into something magnificent by adding their own creative twist.

As a 'Gold' partner on the Limited Edition Guildford Monopoly board, White Lion Walk became the first company outside Disney to create their own bespoke token, immortalising the shopping centre's mascot Lionel the Lion. The Centre is now being recognised for it's outstanding initiative and has been shortlisted for the 2017 Purple Apple Awards and in the 2017 Social Awards.

Peter RabbitTM hops into action for International Children’s Book Day

On Saturday 1st April, in celebration of International Children's Book Day, younger shoppers at White Lion Walk Shopping Centre in Guildford were treated to a special visit from everyone's favourite bunny, Peter Rabbit. Shoppers and their families were given the special opportunity to meet the popular children's character and listen to tales of his adventures during free story time sessions, led by a narrator. The children also had the chance to have their picture taken with the mischievous bunny as a reminder of the special day. Eleanor Berry, who attended the story telling event at White Lion Walk commented "It was lovely to see the children all gathered together and watch them so engaged with the story of Peter Rabbit. It's a real pleasure to see International Children's book day celebrated in this way."

Mothers day Photo booth captures the love for Mother's Day

On Saturday 25th March shoppers at White Lion Walk Shopping Centre in Guildford got into the spirit of Mother's Day by capturing the love for their mums on camera with the centre's free photo booth. Shoppers posed in the booth throughout the day alongside their mums, siblings, other family members, friends or alone, writing messages of love for their mums or guardians, They then got to take away a free photo strip of their pictures as a memento to present to mum the following day on Mothering Sunday. White Lion Walk is now inviting everyone to vote for their favourite photo's from the day and have uploaded all the loving snaps to their White Lion Walk Facebook page. The person featured in the photo with the most number of likes by midnight on Sunday 2nd April will win an incredible hamper of gifts for their mum courtesy of the stores within White Lion Walk.

Aldershot's Rachel is Guildford's very own official MONOPOLY champ!

She is from another county but on Saturday she played MONOPOLY like she was from another world. Aldershot's Rachel Kellett 29, was on Saturday (18th February 2017) crowned Guildford's very own official MONOPOLY champ. The event attracted players from all over the South of England. Rachel, a web developer, beat 15 other hopefuls to land the title of White Lion Walk Shopping Centre. The event was played on the brand new MONOPOLY game for Guildford. Rachel won a signed board, along with £200 worth of shopping vouchers. She vowed to go on a clothes shopping spree at the centre. Jamie Lamont from WINNING MOVES UK, developers of the game under official license from Hasbro, watched her build up an unrivalled MONOPOLY property empire (with the greens and the oranges set her leading asset) and declared: "Rachel is one of the best MONOPOLY players I have ever seen, if not the very best."
